Service standards vary enormously within similar hotel levels; price is usually a good indicator of the kind of attention one should expect, although not the rule. All hotels in the country are subject to a 16.4% sales tax.

Booking hotel rooms in advance is advisable, especially during the High Season between December and May. Despite the thousands of existing hotels, the room count often falls short during these months. During the Green Season, significant rate discounts are available at most hotels, attracting many visitors who don't mind an afternoon shower or two!
